Madame Butterfly

Madame Butterfly

Sometimes a garment leaps out at me, right off the vendor pic, and I know I HAVE to have it. Mohna Lisa Couture’s special edition gown – Genesis Madame Butterfly – is one of them. The delicate butterfly and dragonfly print on gold silk is in such refreshing spring colours, and the cut is risque but flattering, with it’s cut out bodice and slashed to the hip long skirt. The gown comes with a sparkling wrap and a shoulder embellishment (not shown), giving you some options for how to wear it. This is a wonderful gown for making a grand entrance!

Mohna Lisa designed this special edition gown, inspired by Puccini’s opera of the same name, for the Opera Meets Couture event held on April 15th to raise donations for the Academy of Music and Education. The gown is now available for sale at the Mohna Lisa Couture main store.

Speaking of Madame Butterfly, you might enjoy listening to this! Malcolm McLaren’s awesome track of the same name from 1984 – well ahead of it’s time. The video is simply stunning!

Dreams are the Touchstones of our Character ~ William David Thoreau

Recently when reading the newest issue of Vogue I noticed designers are going for a remarkably retro look this season. The pages are filled with pastels and 50’s and 60’s styled designs. As is often the way, designs are recycled from time to time, not because there is nothing left to design, but more so, I feel, to fill a newer generation with a touch to history. I recently marveled that some of the seasons offerings from *SoliDea FoliEs* are following this same trend. Keeping it fresh and creating it hip, MILA TATHAM has fulfilled the dreams of my SL inner new age hippy with a sexy cocktail dress and a mini-dress that justs scream for a pair of go-go boots.

One of the things I love best about Second Life is your allowed to play, to be fun and enjoy fashion. This kicky fun Optical Dots dress is a newer release from *SoliDea FoliEs* and it reminds me of Goldie Hawn of the 70’s comedy show “Laugh In”. The dress with its retro pom-poms and fresh colors is guaranteed to bring a smile to most wearer’s faces. But if it doesn’t, I would think the matching koi hat would tempt the dourest of souls. I love to wear it because it’s fun, and retro cool, now if I can just find where I put my lava lamp… As an aside the groovy “statuette” on the table is actually a recent hat release from SoliDea, don’t you just love the concept of wearable art?

The cocktail dress is the previously released Amanda in MESH. The dress is gorgeously naughty and comes with an incredible feathered boa. For this pic I am wearing a feather stoll from Mimikri, only because I featured the *SoliDea FoliEs* boa in a previous blog, so for this I wanted to create a mix and match feature. The neckline is almost illegal but actually beautyfully draped and perfect for driving him mad. The hair, also mesh, is a new item “Sunset Boulevard”, from Vanity Hair, the earrings [Mandala] and the watch Ryca. Be fab and dress like you own it! Fulfill your dreams, check out *SoliDea FoliEs* today and bring out your inner wild child. *Taxi
